[정치/CTN]가금현 기자 = 맹정호 서산시장 후보가 청년 농업인들과 손을 맞잡고 서산 농업의 대전환에 나섰다.
맹정호 후보는 지난 23일 충남 서산 스마트팜협의회 청년 농업인들과 정책 협약을 체결하고, 미래 스마트팜 농업 활성화와 지속가능한 농촌 발전을 위해 함께 힘을 모으기로 했다.
이번 협약은 단순한 농업 지원을 넘어 청년이 중심이 되는 미래 농업 체계를 만들겠다는 데 의미가 있다. 스마트팜과 디지털 농업, 첨단 기술 기반의 생산 혁신과 유통 구조 개선 등을 통해 서산 농업의 경쟁력을 한 단계 끌어올리겠다는 구상이다.
특히 청년 농업인들은 농촌 현장의 어려움과 미래 농업의 방향에 대한 다양한 의견을 전달했으며, 맹정호 후보는 청년 농업인을 서산 농업 혁신의 핵심 주체로 세우겠다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
맹정호 후보는 “기후위기와 인력난, 시장 변화 속에서 기존 방식만으로는 농업의 미래를 지키기 어렵다”며 “청년의 아이디어와 기술, 도전 정신이 서산 농업을 완전히 바꿀 힘”이라고 강조했다.
이어 “청년이 돌아오는 농촌, 미래가 있는 농업, 돈이 되는 농업을 만들어 서산 농업의 판을 확 바꾸겠다”며 “행정이 청년 농업인의 가장 든든한 동반자가 되겠다”고 말했다.
청년 농업인들도 “현장의 이야기를 직접 듣고 정책에 반영하려는 모습에 기대가 크다”며 “청년 농업인이 희망을 갖고 농사를 지을 수 있는 환경이 만들어지길 바란다”고 말했다.
한편 이번 협약에는 스마트팜 기반 미래농업 육성과 농촌 인력 문제 해결, 로컬푸드 활성화, 농산물 판로 확대 및 해외시장 개척 등 서산 농업 경쟁력 강화를 위한 다양한 협력 방안이 담겼다.
