[제주/CTN]가금현 기자 = 제주특별자치도 세계유산본부는 오는 6월 12일부터 14일까지 사흘간 제주한란전시관에서 제주 자생 산수국의 매력을 오감으로 느낄 수 있는 ‘2026년 산수국 전시회’를 개최한다.

산수국은 초여름 제주 오름과 계곡을 수놓는 대표적인 자생식물로, 소박하면서도 자연스러운 아름다움을 간직하고 있다. 특히 이번 전시의 관전 포인트는 산수국 특유의 '가변성'이다. 토양의 산도(pH)에 따라 꽃색이 파란색(산성), 분홍색(염기성), 보라색(중성)으로 마법처럼 변하는 생태적 특징을 직접 확인할 수 있다.

이번 전시에서는 제주 자생 산수국을 비롯하여 희귀 변이종과 화려한 원예종 등 총 70여 점이 출품된다. 관람객들은 각기 다른 색감과 형태를 지닌 산수국을 비교·관찰하며, 식물이 환경과 상호작용하는 신비로운 생태적 과정을 깊이 있게 이해할 수 있는 기회를 갖게 된다.

또한, 관람객이 산수국의 아름다움을 일상으로 가져갈 수 있도록 특별 체험 프로그램도 마련된다.

12일부터 13일까지 진행되는 ‘산수국 에코백 만들기’는 참가자가 직접 디자인한 에코백에 산수국 문양을 담아가는 프로그램이다. 신청은 제주한란전시관 누리집( 통해 가능하다.

김형은 제주도 세계유산본부장은 “6월의 제주는 수국으로 물드는 생동감 넘치는 계절”이라며, “이번 전시회를 통해 도민과 관람객들이 제주 자생 산수국의 다채로운 빛깔을 실내에서 편안하고 깊이 있게 감상하시길 바란다”고 전했다.

아울러 “앞으로도 제주만의 고유한 자생식물을 활용한 전시와 체험 콘텐츠를 지속적으로 개발하여, 식물 문화 확산은 물론 생물다양성 보존의 가치를 널리 알리는 데 앞장서겠다”고 덧붙였다.

The exhibition will showcase approximately 70 varieties, including native Jeju wild hydrangeas, rare mutant species, and horticultural varieties. Visitors can compare and observe the diverse colors and shapes, gaining a deeper understanding of the ecological processes through which plants interact with their environment.
To bring the beauty of the wild hydrangea into everyday life, a special experiential program is also prepared. From June 12 to 13, the 'Wild Hydrangea Eco-bag Making' workshop will allow participants to create custom eco-bags featuring hydrangea patterns.
