선거철만 되면 반복되는 소음과 네거티브 공방 속에서 우리가 놓치지 말아야 할 본질은 무엇인가.
이번 선거는 단순히 정당의 세를 과시하는 장이 아니라, 우리 동네의 살림살이를 책임질 '진짜 일꾼'을 검증하는 엄중한 시간이어야 한다.
이제는 대한민국도 비난과 정쟁을 넘어, 공약의 실천 가능성을 논하는 선진 선거문화로 체질을 개선해야 할 시점이다.
후보자들에게 당부한다. 상대 후보의 허물을 들추어 얻는 반사이익은 결국 유권자의 정치 혐오만 키울 뿐이다.
유권자가 보고 싶은 것은 상대방의 과거가 아니라, 내가 살고 있는 이 지역의 미래다.
자신이 내세운 공약이 얼마나 구체적인지, 예산 확보 방안은 실효성이 있는지, 그리고 무엇보다 '내가 이 약속을 지킬 의지와 능력이 있는가'를 부각하는 데 집중해야 한다.
비난의 언어보다는 비전의 언어로 승부하는 모습이야말로 우리가 바라는 선진 정치인의 품격이다.
유권자들 역시 관행에서 벗어나야 한다.
특정 정당의 깃발만 보고 투표하는 '묻지마 투표'는 결국 지역 발전의 정체를 야기한다. 정당은 정책적 지향점을 공유할 뿐, 실제로 현장을 발로 뛰며 민원을 해결하고 조례를 만드는 것은 결국 '사람'이다.
주민을 위해 진심으로 봉사할 준비가 된 인물인지, 지역의 현안을 꿰뚫고 있는 전문가인지 냉철하게 따져봐야 한다.
당의 이름표 뒤에 숨은 함량 미달의 후보는 걸러내고, 진정성 있게 일할 수 있는 인물을 선택하는 것이야말로 진정한 주권 행사의 시작이다.
우리는 흔히 선거일을 단순히 '법정 공휴일'이나 '나들이 가는 날'로 치부하곤 한다.
하지만 이날은 대한민국과 우리 지역의 향후 4년을 책임질 대리인을 고용하는 '인사 채용의 날'이다.
투표 포기는 자신의 권리를 포기하는 것을 넘어, 자격 없는 인물에게 우리 동네의 열쇠를 맡기는 방관이다. 공정하고 투명한 선거 문화를 정착시키는 힘은 결국 높은 투표율에서 나온다.

Amid the noise and negative political attacks that repeat every election season, what is the essential point we must not overlook?
This election should not merely be a stage for political parties to display their power. Rather, it must be a serious opportunity to verify who the “true workers” are — the people who will genuinely take responsibility for managing and improving our communities.
South Korea must now move beyond criticism and political strife and improve its political culture into one that discusses the practicality and feasibility of campaign promises.
To the candidates:
Gaining political advantage by exposing the flaws of opponents only deepens voters’ disgust with politics.
What voters truly want to see is not the opponent’s past, but the future of the community in which they live.
Candidates should focus on demonstrating how concrete their pledges are, whether their budget plans are realistic, and above all, whether they possess both the determination and the capability to fulfill their promises.
Competing with the language of vision rather than the language of blame is the dignity expected of mature and advanced politicians.
Voters, too, must break away from old habits.
Blindly voting based solely on party affiliation ultimately hinders regional development. Political parties may share policy directions, but it is ultimately individuals — not party labels — who work on the ground, resolve residents’ concerns, and create local ordinances.
Voters must carefully examine whether a candidate is sincerely prepared to serve the people and whether they truly understand local issues as capable professionals.

We often treat election day as merely a legal holiday or a day for leisure outings.
However, it is actually “the day of hiring representatives” who will be entrusted with the future of our communities and our nation for the next four years.
Abstaining from voting is not only giving up one’s rights, but also standing by while unqualified individuals are handed the keys to our communities. The power to establish a fair and transparent election culture ultimately comes from high voter turnout.
