이날 오후 4시 읍내약국 앞 광장에서 개최된 출정식에는 행사 시작 전부터 수백 명의 지지자들과 시장을 찾은 시민들이 인산인해를 이루며 뜨거운 열기를 뿜어냈다.

마지막으로 맹 후보는 “지금 서산에 필요한 리더십은 베짱이의 화려함이 아니라 묵묵히 실천하는 개미의 성실함”이라며, “시민과 함께 승리하여 반드시 다시 뛰는 서산을 만들겠다”고 지지를 호소했다.
출정식을 성공적으로 마친 맹 후보는 현장에 참석한 시·도의원 후보자들과 함께 동부시장 내부를 돌며 상인 및 시민들과 일일이 악수를 나누는 것으로 공식 선거운동의 첫 행보를 마무리했다.
