이날 출정식에는 김기재 당진시장 후보를 비롯해 어기구·한만석·송노섭·김명선 상임선거대책위원장과 시·도의원 후보, 비례대표 후보 등 더불어민주당 원팀 후보들이 총출동하여 “당진 대전환”과 “민생 회복”을 위한 압도적인 승리를 결의했다.
김기재 후보는 “더 큰 당진, 거침없는 도약”을 슬로건으로 내걸고, 당진을 서해안 1등 도시로 발전시키겠다는 강력한 비전을 선포했다. 김 후보는 이번 선거를 “헌정질서를 무너뜨린 내란 세력을 퇴출하고 나라와 지방정부를 정상화하는 선거”이자 “도시의 외형적 성장과 시민의 삶의 질 향상이 함께 이뤄지는 당진을 만드는 선거”라며 지지를 호소했다.
특히 김 후보는 “제2서해대교 국가계획 반영, 현대제철 종합병원 적기 개원, 해양경찰인재개발원 조기 완공, 충남경제자유구역 송산지구 지정 등 당진의 대형 국책 사업은 시장 혼자 힘으로 할 수 없다”며 “이재명 정부와 국회, 충남도, 당진시가 하나로 움직이는 강력한 민주당 원팀 체계를 통해 당진 발전의 속도를 가공할 만큼 높이겠다”고 강조했다.
지원 유세에 나선 어기구 의원은 “이번 지방선거는 당진의 미래와 시민의 삶을 결정하는 매우 중요한 선거”라며 “지역경제를 살리고 당진 발전의 속도를 높이기 위해 민주당 원팀 후보들에게 압도적인 지지와 성원을 보내달라”고 전했다.
이날 김 후보는 당진의 체질을 획기적으로 바꿀 핵심 공약인 ‘당진시 대전환 11대 프로젝트’의 실천 의지를 재확인했다.
주요 내용으로는 △제2서해대교 중심의 사통팔달 교통혁신 △AI·데이터 기반 제조혁신 및 수소·그린스틸 클러스터 조성 △스마트팜 및 스마트양식 구축 △당진항의 서해안 복합물류 허브 육성 △24시간 소아청소년 진료센터 구축 △생태호수공원 및 웰니스 관광벨트 조성 등이 포함됐다.
마지막으로 김 후보는 “이재명처럼 가장 낮은 곳에서 소통하고 강력한 실행력으로 결과물을 만들어내겠다”며 “시민이 행복한 살기 좋은 당진을 반드시 만들겠으니, 원팀의 깃발을 높이 들고 승리를 향해 전진하자”고 목소리를 높였다.
선대위 관계자 역시 “오늘 출정식은 당진의 숙원사업을 해결하고 혁신행정을 이끌 유능한 젊은 여당 시장 탄생의 출발점”이라며 선거 승리에 대한 강한 자신감을 드러냈다.

At the event, Candidate Kim reaffirmed his commitment to the "11 Major Projects for the Great Transformation of Dangjin," a core pledge aimed at fundamentally shifting the city's infrastructure. The 11 major projects include: △"All-directional Traffic Innovation" centered on the Second Seohae Bridge and the metropolitan transport network, △Establishment of an AI/data-based manufacturing innovation hub and a hydrogen/green steel cluster, △Construction of a carbon-neutral smart farm cluster and smart aquaculture, △Fostering Dangjin Port as a West Coast complex logistics hub through its designation as a national trading port, △Establishment of a 24-hour pediatric care center and childcare system, and △Creation of a climate-safe eco-lake park and a stay-over marine healing/wellness tourism belt.
Kim concluded by stating, "Like Lee Jae-myung, I will communicate with citizens from the lowest place and produce results with the most powerful execution. I will surely make Dangjin a great place to live so that citizens can proudly say, 'I am truly happy to live in Dangjin.'" He urged, "Let us hold high the banner of the Democratic Party's One-Team and march unstoppable toward victory."
A campaign official expressed strong confidence, stating, "Today's launch ceremony is not just the start of a campaign, but the starting point for the birth of a competent, young ruling-party mayor who will resolve Dangjin's long-standing challenges and lead citizen-driven innovative administration."
