[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Lee Byeong-do, a candidate for Chungnam Education Superintendent, announced a digital education innovation plan centered on building "Chungnam-style Sovereign AI" that protects Chungnam's educational data and fundamentally blocks educational gaps, moving beyond simple distribution of smart devices.

Attending the future education meeting "Opening the Future of Chungnam Education with Park Soo-hyun and Lee Byeong-do!" held in Gongju on the 15th, Candidate Lee presented specific educational policy directions to respond to the artificial intelligence (AI) era. He sharply pointed out concerns about data leakage caused by current AI services relying on U.S. big tech platforms and the issue of educational inequality due to paid subscriptions, emphasizing that the Education Office must directly hold data sovereignty and provide a safe research environment for students and teachers.

The proposed solution, Chungnam-style Sovereign AI, involves building a dedicated AI development server for students and teachers under the Chungnam Education Office and providing high-performance AI subscription services free of charge. The strategy is to break the link where the AI utilization gap according to parents' economic power leads to social disparity, ensuring all children in Chungnam have equal digital tools. He also pledged to complete a customized educational environment that can be felt in actual classrooms by upgrading the existing customized learning platform, the "On System."

In particular, Lee put forward two safety measures to prevent side effects of AI technology: strengthening literacy and securing teacher professionalism. He stated, "The basics are to raise children who can read text deeply before teaching AI," and announced that he would lead balanced growth between digital and paper books through his first campaign pledge of providing 100,000 KRW annual book vouchers. Regarding teachers, he clarified that AI is an auxiliary tool rather than a replacement, promising a three-stage systematic training from introductory to leading levels and the distribution of exclusive manuals led by the Education Office.

Park Soo-hyun, the Chungnam Governor candidate who also attended the meeting, supported Lee's blueprint by promising to build regional high-tech AI/digital experience centers and expand educational expense subsidies. Lee further explained the "Shared Campus" concept, which restructures closed schools into care and cultural hubs as a response to population extinction, showing his determination to overcome regional extinction through educational innovation.
