맹정호 후보는 20일 발표한 입장문을 통해 "행정은 무엇 하나 하려 해도 최소 3~4년 이상 걸린다"며 "맹정호 때 한 일이 없다고 공격하지만, 이는 오히려 (내가 취임할 당시) 이완섭 시장으로부터 물려받은 것이 없었다는 의미"라고 역설했다.
이어 "2018년 시장 취임 당시 물려받은 예산은 7,600억 원이었지만, 2022년 이완섭 시장에게는 1조 1,300억 원 규모의 예산을 물려줬다"면서 "이완섭 후보가 지금 '일 잘했다'고 주장할 수 있는 배경에는 맹정호 시정에서 준비하고 추진한 사업이 많았기 때문"이라고 강조했다.

특히 그는 "지난 4년 동안 이완섭 후보가 새롭게 시작해 마무리한 대표 사업이 무엇인지 되묻고 싶다"며 "고속도로 인터체인지 상징물 설치와 호수공원 콘크리트 공사 외에는 시민들이 체감할 만한 성과가 떠오르지 않는다"고 지적했다.

"While the completion ceremonies may have been held during the 8th elective term, the actual planning and securing of national budgets through government public contests were achieved in the 7th term," Maeng criticized. "To talk about achievements, one must have at least a shred of decency and stop exaggerating successes."
He especially pointed out, "I want to ask what representative project Candidate Lee Wan-seop has newly started and finalized over the past four years. Aside from installing a landmark at the highway interchange and the concrete construction at the lake park, no tangible achievements come to mind for the citizens."
Maeng concluded by saying, "If there is one thing I failed to do, it was exaggerating and bragging about my work. I do not know what I will inherit on July 1, 2026, but even if Seosan is in crisis, I will undoubtedly make it run vigorously once again."
