소방서에 따르면 최근 완연한 기온 상승과 함께 성거산 등 지역 내 주요 등산로를 찾는 시민들이 급증하면서 미끄러짐, 탈진, 실족, 길 잃음 등 다양한 형태의 산악사고 위험이 통계적으로 눈에 띄게 증가하고 있다. 소방 당국은 조사 결과 무리한 산행 계획 수립과 기본적인 안전장비 미착용이 주요 사고 원인으로 분석됨에 따라 등산객들의 각별한 주의가 필요하다고 강조했다.
이에 따라 천안서북소방서는 주요 등산로 진입로에서 산악안전 캠페인을 집중 전개하고 있다. 등산객들을 대상으로 산행 전 충분한 준비운동 실시, 실시간 기상 정보 확인, 지정된 합법 등산로 이용 등 반드시 지켜야 할 기본 안전수칙을 집중적으로 당부했다.
특히 소방서는 응급상황 발생 시 정확한 위치 파악과 신속한 구조 활동이 가능하도록 등산로 곳곳에 설치된 산악위치표지판과 국가지점번호의 올바른 활용 방법을 적극 안내하고 있다. 산행 중 위급 상황을 맞이했을 때 주변의 위치표지판 번호를 확인해 119에 신고하면 구조대가 현장에 도달하는 시간을 획기적으로 단축할 수 있다.
최길재 천안서북소방서장은 “봄철에는 산악 지역의 일교차가 크고 지형 특성상 작은 부주의가 대형 골절이나 고립 등 큰 사고로 직결될 수 있다”며 “안전한 산행을 위해 반드시 자신의 체력 수준에 맞는 코스를 선택하고, 인지 능력을 저하시키는 음주 산행은 절대로 삼가야 한다”고 당부했다. 이어 “사고를 방지하기 위해서는 시민들의 자발적인 안전수칙 준수가 최우선인 만큼, 소방서도 예방 활동과 빈틈없는 구조 대응태세 유지에 총력을 다하겠다”고 전했다.

According to the fire station, as the number of citizens visiting major trails in the region, such as Mt. Seonggeo, has rapidly increased along with the recent rise in temperature, the risk of various mountain accidents such as slipping, exhaustion, falling, and getting lost is visibly increasing statistically. Fire authorities emphasized that hikers need to exercise special caution as investigation results analyzed overexertion in planning hikes and failure to wear basic safety equipment as the main causes of accidents.
Accordingly, the Cheonan Seobuk Fire Station is intensively conducting mountain safety campaigns at the entrances of major hiking trails. Hikers were strongly urged to observe basic safety rules that must be followed, such as conducting sufficient warm-up exercises before hiking, checking real-time weather information, and using designated legal trails.
In particular, the fire station is actively promoting the correct layout and usage of mountain location signs and national grid numbers installed throughout the trails to enable accurate location identification and swift rescue operations in case of an emergency. When encountering a critical situation during a hike, checking the numbers on nearby location signs and reporting them to 119 can drastically shorten the time it takes for rescue teams to arrive on the scene.
Choi Gil-jae, Chief of the Cheonan Seobuk Fire Station, stated, "In the spring, the temperature variance in mountainous areas is large, and due to topographical characteristics, a small oversight can lead directly to major accidents such as severe fractures or isolation." He urged, "For a safe hike, you must select a course that fits your physical fitness level and absolutely refrain from drinking while hiking, which impairs cognitive ability." He added, "Since citizens' voluntary compliance with safety rules is the top priority to prevent accidents, the fire station will also devote all its energy to prevention activities and maintaining a seamless rescue response posture."
