Cheonan Tourism Boards 'Tmoney GO'... Cheonan City Selected for KTO's Project
Transitioning to online platform-based tourism taxis... Launching up to 50% discount promotion from June.
May 19, 2026
[Cheonan/CTN] Reporter Kang Hyun-su = Cheonan City is driving a powerful initiative to attract tourists nationwide and innovate its traditional offline-centered tourism transportation system through a full-scale integration with a smart mobility platform.
The city announced on the 19th that it was finally selected for the "Public-Private Collaborative Tourism Transportation Activation Support Project" organized by the Korea Tourism Organization. This project is a core initiative promoted to drastically enhance the travel convenience of individual tourists and revitalize local tourism transportation services that have remained underutilized, such as tourism taxis.
Following this selection, Cheonan City will introduce an innovative tourism taxi product on the national stage in connection with 'Tmoney GO', a major mobile mobility app with a massive user base. Notably, starting this coming June, the city plans to stake its all on securing early users and raising awareness by launching an unconventional discount promotion of up to 50% for Cheonan tourism taxi products registered on the Tmoney GO app.
Concurrently, Cheonan City will receive comprehensive, fully-funded nationwide promotional marketing support utilizing the platform's main product exposures, banner advertisements, social media online channels, and press corps. The city is confident that as the tourism taxi system—previously limited to local offline promotions—shifts completely to a smart online platform base, the influx of individual tourists from across the nation, including the metropolitan area, will surge, thereby greatly contributing to revitalizing the local economy facing a crisis.
Lee Gye-ja, head of the Cheonan City Tourism Division, stated, "With this project selection serving as a momentum, Cheonan tourism taxis will leap forward as an advanced tourism product equipped with strong competitiveness based on online platforms." She added, "We will continue to concentrate our administrative capabilities on maximizing the travel convenience of outside visitors and firmly vitalizing stay-over tourism in our region."
Platform advancement that solves both transportation and tourism simultaneously with a single smartphone is an essential survival strategy for regional tourism in an era of population decline. Successfully implanting the ripple effect of a major conglomerate's mobility platform into local welfare and tourism infrastructure, this project will serve as a decisive turning point for Cheonan to leap into a smart tourism city.
